The Cisteoir spoke of the importance of clubs been made aware of the fact that Season tickets were available for €150.00 and suggested that it was great value for money and was surprised at the number of people who had availed of it.  With regards to the upcoming Senior Hurling Championship at the weekend Bearnard indicated that a weekend pass for same would be available to patrons for €25 and would be available on Friday evening.

Pádraig Mac Gearailt advised the meeting that he received a request for a Season ticket for €90 and stated that it would not be processed for that amount.  Seosamh Ó Cuana also appealed to delegates to support the Fundraising Draw as it was very important for County Board and Club finances and complimented the Cisteoir and his committee on the trojan work that they have done with the fundraising project over the years. In concluding this discussion Bearnard notified delegates that a meeting for the Fundraising committee would take place next Tuesday night in Clareabbey.

The Cathaoirleach advised the meeting that P.S. Mac Dubháin, Seán de Pháil and Micheál Ó Neill had sent their apologies as they were unable to attending the meeting.

A.O.B.  Micheál Mac Cuirtín C.L.G. Uí Comhraí suggested that July would be more suitable to hold the next meeting of the County Board unless there was something special that needed to be dealt with as there was very little on the agenda for the May meeting and it was a long journey for some delegates to travel to discuss minor items.  Seosamh Ó Cuana informed Micheál that the Executive had already taken this into consideration and if it was necessary to hold a meeting over the months of June, July & August, club secretaries would be notified in due course.

Séamus Ó Raghallaigh C.L.G. Cluain Da Ghad enquired if a date in July had been fixed for the Cusack Cup Final to which the Cathaoirleach informed Séamus that the C.C.C. would be dealing with that in the next few weeks but several factors would have to be taken into consideration such as looking at the league tables to determine the status of matches, progression of our County teams and the commencement of the Senior Club Hurling and Football championship before a date could be fixed.

Seosamh Mag Fhearaigh Cumann na mBunscoile advised delegates that he wanted clubs to be aware that the Primary School Football trials would be commencing on Thursday May 12th and the Hurling Tuesday May 17th and Thursday May 19th   and also expressed his appreciation to the Board for the use of Cusack Park for the finals in June.  In response to a query regarding the specific date of the finals Seosamh informed the Cathaoirleach that he would contact Cumann na mBunscoile to get clarity on same.

Seosamh Mac Conmara C.L.G. Naomh Seosamh with regards to their championship match with C.L.G. An Tobar enquired if approval had to be sought to double this game up with their league match to which Pádraig Mac Gearailt confirmed that it had with the C.C.C.  Seosamh Ó Cunaí advised that both clubs would have to put it in writing to the C.C.C. and it was not too late to do so further adding that there would be no problem if clubs wanted to double up their league and championship matches provided that the Runaí had received notification in writing.

Crióstóir Pris enquired if Eoghan Ó Muirí ‘s position as a coach would be replaced and in his response the Cathaoirleach informed Críostóir that discussions had taken place with the Football Review committee regarding this issue and  it was been considered further  adding that the Board was happy that the level of coaching that is required for both codes was there.  Caoimhín Ó Riain enquired as to whether a provisional date had been fixed for the Junior “A” Hurling Championships to which Seosamh Ó Cunaí advised that the C.C.C. would look at it next Monday night to try and organise a date for same while Pádraig Mac Gearailt informed Caoimhín that the month of July had always been the commencement date for the Junior championships.

The Cathaoirleach paid tribute to the Senior Hurling and Football teams, team management and panellist on their recent achievements and complimented both the Minor Hurling and U 21 football teams and management for their efforts and hard work in the Championships.  Seosamh Ó Cunaí wished the Minor Footballers every success in their upcoming match in Miltown on Wednesday as well as all those teams who would be competing in Championships over the next few weeks and months.  Bearnard Ó Cathain concurred what the Cathaoirleach said and advised delegates that particularly in the football scene there are a number of dimensions to what they have achieved to date naming the contribution of the Clare County Board as one and thanked club delegates for their support and enthusiasm that they had given to football over the years further adding that no expense had been spared to improve the standard of football in the County.  In response to a query regarding financial gain for the County Board as a result of these successes Bearnard advised delegates that it would be July before they would know and explained to the meeting the % breakdown of the National League Fund.

Áine Ní hAodha  Lios Uí Chathasaigh C.L.G. enquired as to whether progress had been made with the football review.  In his reply Coilm de Brún advised the meeting that they had made some progress and they would be compiling a report which would be presented to delegates at the September County Board meeting.  The Cathaoirleach complimented the Review committee as did Micheál Mac Cuirtín C.L.G. Uí Comhraí who expressed the opinion that the success of same would be what the committee correlated from the clubs and rushing such a report would be a waste of time.

Nollaig Ó Drisceoil C.L.G. Muillte Uí Cheallacháin in reference to expenditure and costs recalled when he was involved with the Senior Hurlers in the 70’s they also had a Cork man assisting them who was getting paid £20 to travel to and from Cork per night at that time and commented that he was sure Dónal Óg was receiving more than this amount.
In concluding the business of the meeting the Cathaoirleach advised delegates that a minute’s silence would be held in memory of the late Patricia Mulqueen mother of Louis Mulqueen, selector with Clare Senior Hurling team who recently passed away.

Ar dheis Dé go raibh a anam.
